Your weddings photos will hang on your walls, and your parent’s, for the rest of your life.
Which is why it’s important to book the perfect photographer for you. Next most important? Your glam team. If you hated the way you looked that day, you’ll be reminded of that every time you look at the photo.
Now don’t get me wrong, there are a million important things in regards to planning your wedding. And at the top of the list is making sure you and everyone else have loads of fun. But when it comes to booking the perfect makeup artist for you, I have a few tips.
Tip #1: Make sure they have experience in bridal work. I know it may sound like a good idea to hire your friend who’s good at makeup, or your colorist who knows your hair. But working in bridal requires knowledge of how your makeup will photograph, making sure it stays for 12+ hours, and navigating the schedules and craziness of wedding morning. Writing schedules, staying on time, and doing good work within the parameters of your getting ready location takes time to learn. and it is worth having someone on your team who has experience.
Tip #2: Make sure you like the work they’ve already done. I know this sounds self-explanatory but I mean make sure that you really like the work they’ve already done. Make sure there’s photos in their portfolio that you want to use as inspiration. You may see an artist and appreciate how talented they are; but your inspo pics look nothing like their chosen aesthetic. They may be able to execute but things go so much smoother when you both have the same vision and preferences.
Tip #3: Book early, and stay in communication. Make sure you nail down your favorite vendors early in the planning process. If your glam team is important to you, reach out early about availability to make sure you have time for trials, chatting, and connecting before it’s too soon and they are booked out. Stasy in communication with them during the process so they can update their files and get you schedules as soon as possible, as well as advise you if need be.
I hope this helped!
